One Trace

Lets do our part in saving lives

A redesign of a COVID-19 contact tracing app used in Singapore. It has additional features and improvements to create a better user experience while keeping it simple to use at the same time.

UX Process

I redesigned the overall look and feel of the app and also added a few quality of life improvements to the app to give the user a better experience as the user have to use the app every day for checking in and out of locations they visit.

I added additional features for the app such as booking testing and vaccination timeslots for users as those that already have this app installed are citizens who have given their identification when signing up on the app.

With each new design project, i implement new features and designs that are currently in trend that will bring about a better user experience journey.

User Flow

The user flow was important in making the app simple to understand and have used for day-to-day activities when visiting locations and knowing which areas of the app could be improved to better the user experience.

Wireframes

I made wireframes to get an understanding of the features and structure of the app and improvements that can be made to existing screens and what additional elements can be implemented to the app during the high fidelity prototyping phase.

User Personas

User Goals

1. Knowing how to protect their family and the people around them.

2. All-in-one app to combat COVID-19.

3. Booking appointments on the app instead of going online and open to scams on the internet.

User Pains

1. Lack of information relayed or what to do when exposed to covid clusters.

2. Afraid of getting scammed online from getting tested, and vaccinated.

3. Some processes are tedious to use such as checking out of locations and the need to check out of every location.

Sketches

With the user interviews, I sketched different screens of the app to visualize the user journey. Sketches and research of medical apps online helped with finding out the main components and features of the app.

Information Architecture

Comparison of the old information architecture with the new version to better indicate the additional features in the app. The information architecture was updated to reflect the new changes towards the app, taking into account what the user will want to achieve on the app with the main new features such as UI changes, testing & vaccination appointment bookings.

Testing & Vaccine Centres

Users of the app can book appointments to get themselves tested from the app when they have been close to covid cases or clusters at their nearest testing centre instead of finding information on third-party applications.

This is in response to recent scam cases that have surfaced related to vaccines and testing that have taken place during the pandemic. This is to prevent scams from happening to the general populace since this is an app by the government and they would want to ensure everyone is tested and vaccinated.

The screens and process for booking vaccination appointments is similar to booking for testing just only the centres are different.

Reflection

With the knowledge and basics of UX/UI design that I gained from my Bootcamp and previous project. I was able to do up my own personal projects on how I can create better user experiences. With each new project, I will incorporate new features or ideas into the product to make it better while taking into user into consideration.

This project has further improved my design skillsets in identifying key user problems and issues in a current product to further improve it. Researching features and improvements that can be implemented by researching what other countries are doing and incorporating them into my designs. This project has further strengthened my foundations as I continue to develop my software, researching skills and portfolio.

Thank You!
